This week we explored the Peninsula Trail of Harris Lake County Park located in New Hill, NC. The Peninsula Trail is a 4.25 mile loop that runs along a coast line of Harris Lake. If you are new to trail running this is a great trail to check out. The trail is mostly easy running but it does have it’s fair share of tree roots. If you need a break along the route there are plenty of benches to sit on and enjoy the view. I loved running this trail and look forward to visiting again soon! Go explore and let me know what you think of it!

Here is the beginning of the trail. As you can see the trail starts off wide but it doesn’t stay that way.
The trail gets a little smaller as you start to weave through the trees.
A straight stretch with trees lining the trail.
So peaceful!
There are a couple of spots along the trail that have little wooden bridges. This one on the right was really fun to run on!
This trail is marked very well with an orange blaze, mile markers and signs that say Peninsula Trail.
There are tree roots along the trail so make sure you are paying attention and pick up those feet!
Great shot of the power plant and the fisherman enjoying the lake.
The sun peaking through the trees as we are finishing up our run.
There is a large picnic area and a great playground!
Lots of parking and nicely kept restrooms. Always a plus!

Harris Lake address is 2112 County Park Drive New Hill, NC 27562. Here is my route on Strava: https://www.strava.com/activities/4167836818/overview
